To be fair, I shouldn't rate this movie. I slept through 2/3 of it, literally. But I saw all I needed to see, and no thanks. A friend who stayed awake for the whole movie pointed out... "They were trying to make the point that Westernization has ruined the Samurai, and yet Tom Cruise was the hero. A bit ironic, no??" Mostly, it was just a little too proud of itself - not as much substance as they think they had. Or, maybe I just had too much to drink (which is true).
