MOVIE REVIEW - Jackass 2 (2006)

Exactly like Jackass 1. Which means, good movie :). Overly disgusting, painful to watch at times, but good times.

MOVIE REVIEW - Devil Wears Prada, The (2006)

Mildly enjoyable chick flick, similar to Ugly Betty. Meryl was good, but nothing Oscar worthy.

MOVIE REVIEW - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005)

Sort of a lightweight LA Confidential, with an ADHD narrator (Robert Downey, Jr.). Fun, a little weird - a decent story told in an inventive fashion.

MOVIE REVIEW - Punch-Drunk Love (2002)

It's a good thing Adam Sandler made Spanglish to redeem himself from this dreary, weirdo dullard of a movie. Adam stars as a loser-type who, well, it's not worth describing, it's so dull.

MOVIE REVIEW - Apocalypto (2006)

Mel Gibson knows what he's doing. What could've been some dull study of a lost civilization is instead a wild ride, a Die Hard in the Jungle, a fascinating meld of an old culture with a modern sensibility. Subtitles? Who cares - they didn't speak enough to slow down the movie. No known actors? Who cares - these actors were excellent, and the story was intense, so dramatic and compelling, and the action was gripping. The blood and gore and violence approached an over-the-top level, but it was also realistic based on the Mayan way of life. One of the best movies of the year, for those who dare to stand carnage.

MOVIE REVIEW - Philadelphia (1993)

A depressing look at AIDS and society's view of those living with it. Decent, but not worth all the acclaim it got. And such a downer, I wish I hadn't bothered.

MOVIE REVIEW - 16 Blocks (2006)

A plenty enjoyable action flick starring an aging and tired Bruce Willis. Nothing spectacular, and plenty of typical action-movie-ughs from me; but a decent way to waste two hours at the airport.

MOVIE REVIEW - Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)

Very funny moments, but overall, it was just too cringeworthy. I must've crossed over the generation gap on my latest birthday. I really enjoyed the movie Jackass, and expected Borat to tickly my funny bone in a similar way. Instead, I just couldn't get past so many moments when he simply went too far. You don't get to abduct celebrities on camera. It's not funny. You can only have two scenes with feces - any more than that, and your just playing with crap. Funny? Sometimes. Unpleasant? Throughout.
