MOVIE REVIEW - Baby Mama (2008)

I really enjoy Tina Fey, and Amy Poehler is a riot on SNL. But this is a decent-at-best chick comedy. Too much sap, too predictable, not even remotely as funny as any given episode of 30 Rock. There's nothing distasteful - and there are a few laughs - but overall, just not very satisfying for a comedy with such brilliant women.

MOVIE REVIEW - Eleven Men Out (2005)

Dumb gay movie.

MOVIE REVIEW - Ringer, The (2004)

This movie stars Johnny Knoxville, about a guy who needs money and decides to fake being retarded to win the Special Olympics. This could've been a biting comedy, but was just flat instead.

MOVIE REVIEW - We Own The Night (2007)

The Yards is a much better Mark/Joaquin movie. This one, about brothers who may be on opposite sides of the law, just didn't have that good a story.

MOVIE REVIEW - Airplane! (1980)

I've seen bits and pieces of this over the years, but today was the first time I watched it straight through. Maybe I was just in the mood for it, but this is one hysterical movie. Constant laughs. Goofy, yes. But the humor holds up really well over time.

MOVIE REVIEW - Bank Job, The (2008)

Enjoyable action flick. Nothing Oscar worthy, but it keeps the intensity up, and has a decent story.

MOVIE REVIEW - Shoot 'Em Up (2007)

All about the guns. Clive Owen and Paul Giamatti should've made a better movie. At least Monica Bellucci is still hot.

MOVIE REVIEW - Ocean's Thirteen (2007)

The first one was ultra cool. The second one was enjoyable, clever, but not really necessary. This one, while mildly enjoyable, was really unnecessary. These movies didn't deserve a sequel.

MOVIE REVIEW - Cannibal (2006)

Horrible. Just horrible in all ways.

MOVIE REVIEW - Last Holiday (2006)

Queen Latifah is a pretty bad actress. And the story was sappy, if mildly heartwarming. Not bad, but nothing to recommend.

MOVIE REVIEW - Lucky Number Slevin (2006)

Sort of The Sting for assassins, this is a multi-twist semi-cool mind game starring Bruce Willis and Josh Hartnett, Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley, all as the bad guys. There are quite a few twists, but no fear - they spell out every inch of what happened in the all-too-neatly-wrapped last half hour. It's not a bad movie, and tries (not quite successfully) to be as cool as Ocean's Eleven; but it lacks heart.
